ITINERARY: PUERTO MALDONADO - LAKE SANDOVAL TOUR

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado - Lake Sandoval

Reception at the airport and transfer to the city, then we go to the Port and take our boat down the river to Puerto Maldonado, the entrance of Lake Sandoval. We land and walk in the jungle of about for an hour to Mejía Lodge (basic) located on the side of the Lake Sandoval. Reception and accommodated in the bungalows of the Lodge. Next, we take a walk in the jungle, accompanied by a guide, for about two hours. During this walk we will find a great diversity of flora and fauna. We visit the lake at night, where we will be able to appreciate the nocturnal species that inhabit the lake.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval - Island of the Monkeys –Fitzcarrald’s Ship

After breakfast, we take a canoe to tour the lake. First we visit the place where Macaw parrots peck at muddy clay to eat. The clay is also necessary to benefit their metabolism. Then, we sail for 30 minutes and arrive at the fabulous Lake Sandoval, where there is a great diversity of flora and fauna. We appreciate orchids, little plantains, savage hens, "taricayas "(little turtles), giant otters, “Martín Pescador” (kingfishers), monkeys such as: “cotomonos”, “wasis”, “capuchinos” and a diversity of fishes, including piranhas. It is possible to take a refreshing swim at the lake without danger. We return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, we visit Monkey´s Island and the wreck of Fitzcarrald’s Ship. Then we return to the Lodge. Dinner and sleep.

Day 3: Puerto Maldonado - Airport

We have breakfast, then take the boat back to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport.
