The Lares trek in Peru, is a wonderful alternative to the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This trek, along the spectacular Lares Valley, traverses the beautiful, pristine Peruvian Andes. This is a relatively untouched area with stunning landscapes and mountain views. Here you will see the farmers and weavers in traditional dress. Although the trek is only slightly harder than the Inca Trail, it is all at high altitude, so it is essential that you have acclimatised, before undertaking it. On the final day we have the special experience of visiting the fascinating Machu Picchu, where we can marvel at the precision, Incan construction skills. On the way back to Cusco, enjoy the panoramic views of the landscape and mountains from the comfort of the Expedition train.
